Lucent Sky AVM 4.3 is a preview release for the upcoming Lucent Sky AVM 4.5. It contains the second and primary phase of the second-generation source code analysis engine, which allows for greatly improved accuracy in source code analysis, contextual analysis and the resulting remediation. Additionally, it comes with performance improvements and bug fixes.

With this update, we have passed the “point of no return” for the second-generation source code analysis engine, where the current, first-generation source code analysis engine will no longer receive updates made to the second-generation engine. Starting with v4.3, both engines will co-exist, while the second-generation engine will be used when preview is enabled. Updates in Lucent Sky AVM 4.3 include:

• Second-generation source code analysis engine (second phase) - The second-generation source code analysis engine is an overhaul of the source code flow analysis engine and the contextual analysis engine. In the second phase, the primary focus is code analysis accuracy and scalability. The second-generation engine now analyzes over 12 times more source code information than the current, first-generation engine. This allows for greatly improved accuracy in source code analysis, contextual analysis and the resulting remediation. However, a temporary downside is that a typical scan will now take about 20-30% additional time to complete. We expect the performance to gradually improve over the next few releases. The second-generation source code analysis engine is currently only available when preview is enabled.
• Bug fixes - Several bugs were fixed in this release, including a bug affecting the scanning performance on certain Intel processors, and bugs in the CLI and the web UI.

Updating to 4.3

If you are using Lucent Sky AVM Enterprise, Standard or Test Edition (either on-premise or cloud) and have an active subscription or maintenance agreement, you can update to Lucent Sky AVM 4.3 immediately. Our support team will reach out to you shortly to schedule an update. If you are using Lucent Sky AVM On-Demand, your server will be updated to Lucent Sky AVM 4.3 in the next few days.
